Dr. Sheryl Simpson, D.O.
Dr. Simpson owns and operates the Howell Family Care practice and has cared for approximately 4000 patients that live with diabetes. With this big of a following and a motto of “Kinder, gentler medical care” it speaks volumes about her knowledge base and professionalism considering that she has only been in Howell for less than 6 years. Not only does Dr. Simpson have patients from Livingston County, a growing number of her patients are from surrounding counties as well.
Patient education is high on Dr. Simpson’s list. She is eager to share the latest educational material with her patients as well as her years of knowledge gaining experience. “We treat all of our patients like family and our approach is to provide the very best medical care possible, because let’s face it, we all want the best for our families”, says Dr. Simpson.
- Dr. Simpson obtained her undergraduate degree from Wayne State University with a BA in Biology.
- She then attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2000.
- Then went on to serve a 1 year internship in Family Practice at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital.
- Upon graduation she spent 3 years as a resident in Family Practice at the Ingham Regional Medical Center.
- Dr. Simpson is Board Certified in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
Serving along side of Dr. Simpson is a fantastic staff that makes you feel at home with their warm smiles and glowing personalities. The staff includes; Denise Barron, Clinical Office Manager, Stephanie Borman, Business Manager, a top flight Nursing Staff and Administrative Staff.
Doug Fowler, NP, is dual-boarded Nurse Practitioner in pediatrics and family medicine with a sub-specialty in sports medicine. Although he is new to Howell Family Care, Doug has several years’ experience in pediatrics and sports medicine, taking care of many athletes from Livingston and the surrounding counties. Doug received his graduate degree from Michigan State University (Go State!) and his post-master’s degree in pediatrics at St. Louis University in Missouri. He also earned a master of science in exercise and rehabilitation science from California University.
Doug maintains several certifications in sports medicine, sports conditioning and youth fitness from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the International Youth Conditioning Association. We are excited to have him as a member of our team.
Stephanie Borman worked at Howell Family Care when we first opened in December 2004. After moving to Ohio to study at Muskingum University, she has returned to take the position of Business Manager. Stephanie makes sure the practice runs effectively and helps ensure patient satisfaction.
